Beth Wiser, director of admissions, is quoted in a New York Times article about the rising importance of social media in the college admissions process. In a recent survey, 31 percent of college admissions officers said that they had visited the personal social media pages of applicants, stirring a national debate. While stating that UVM does not engage in the practice, Wiser notes that “As students’ use of social media is growing, there’s a whole variety of ways that college admissions officers can use it.” Read the story…
