UVM Professor Chronicles Greenpeace Crackdowns for Guardian

Associate professor Frank Zelko writes for The Guardian newspaper about the recent incident of the “Arctic 30” in the context of how governments and institutions have reacted to Greenpeace actions in the past. Greenpeace, he explains, endeavors to make bold yet non-violent statements against environmental harm carried out by “opponents who, if they chose to, could crush them like bugs.” Sometimes these opponents take violent or serious action, such as Russia’s recent plan to incarcerate Greenpeace activists for 15 years. Read the story…
