The University of Vermont College of Medicine held the 2013 Global Health Series kick-off session on September 9 in the Sullivan Classroom in the Larner Medical Education Center. The discussion was hosted by Associate Professor of Medicine and infectious disease specialist Majid Sadigh, M.D., director of the Global Health Center at Danbury Hospital and Western Connecticut Health Network (WCHN). The evening featured presentations from UVM Class of 2016 medical students Taylor Goller and Karl Kristiansen and WCHN OB/GYN resident Karina Haber, M.D., who discussed their recent experience in Uganda. Sadigh and Bulat Ziganshin, M.D., also provided an update on the global health education program plans and upcoming opportunities.

The Global Health Series: A Mission Towards Change will be held monthly throughout the academic year. Students, residents and faculty from the UVM College of Medicine, UVM College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and Fletcher Allen Health Care are invited to attend the sessions, which include refreshments.
