Ihor Kobel, Fulbright Fellow at Gallaudet University and Catholic University, will present an overview of the Ukrainian deaf community in a lecture Monday, April 8 at 5:30 p.m. in the Davis Center's Jost Foundation Room. The talk will also delve into challenges faced by Ukrainian students, including the suppression of Ukrainian Sign Language in educational institutions. 

Kobel, an educator and advocate for Ukrainian sign language and deaf culture in Ukraine, will discuss his proposal to create a social work degree specifically for deaf Ukrainian students.

American Sign Language interpretation will be provided for this event.
