The Clinical Simulation Laboratory at the University of Vermont/Fletcher Allen Health Care held an Open House in honor of the facility’s second anniversary. The event took place on Monday, March 25, 2013, from 12:30 to 3 p.m. on the second floor of the Rowell building on the UVM campus. Remarks began at 1 p.m.
Hosts for the event included John R. Brumsted, M.D., president and CEO of Fletcher Allen Health Care; Ted James, M.D., clinical director of the Clinical Simulation Laboratory and associate professor of surgery; Frederick C. Morin III, M.D., dean of the UVM College of Medicine; Cate Nicholas, M.S., P.A., Ed.D., education director for the Clinical Simulation Laboratory; and Patricia A. Prelock, Ph.D., dean of the UVM College of Nursing & Health Sciences.
“College of Medicine, College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and Fletcher Allen faculty and staff are encouraged to visit, help celebrate our accomplishments, and find out what we have been doing,” said James.
Among the Open House highlights were several new technology additions provided compliments of some very generous donors. New features include five Harvey® cardiopulmonary simulators donated by Class of 1942 College of Medicine alumnus Robert Larner, M.D., and the VERT™ simulator, which creates 3D views and life-size visualizations of a radiotherapy treatment room for training students, nurses and multidisciplinary team members.
