According to stories published by the Scientific American, the BBC, Huffington Post, Wired and multiple other outlets, a research team of engineers led by postdoc Jiangjiang Zhu and assistant professor Jane Hill have developed a “breathprint” test that can detect dangerous lung infections such as tuberculosis within minutes. Traditional tests can take days or weeks to get culture results.
