On Wednesday, Jan. 30, Pamela Matson, dean of the School of Earth Sciences and Goldman Professor of Environmental Science at Stanford University, will deliver a Burack President's Distinguished Lecture, "A New Era in Global Change Science: Linking Knowledge and Action for Sustainability."

The talk, free and open to the public, will take place at 12:30 p.m. in the Davis Center's Jost Foundation Room. A reception will immediately follow.

Matson's research addresses a range of environment and sustainability issues, including sustainability of agricultural systems; vulnerability of particular people and places to climate change; the consequences of tropical deforestation on atmosphere, climate and water systems; and solutions to global change in the nitrogen and carbon cycles.

Matson serves on numerous boards and committees, including the National Academy of Science and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She has produced nearly 200 publications, including Seeds of Sustainability: Lessons from the Birthplace of the Green Revolution.
