Gene Brody, Regents Professor and director of the Center for Family Research at the University of Georgia, will give a talk, “Gene-Environment Interplay Research from the Center for Contextual Genetics,” on Thursday, Nov. 8 at 4 p.m. in the Davis Center’s Livak Room as part of the Burack President’s Distinguished Lecture Series.

Brody, an internationally recognized expert on the risk and protective mechanisms that forecast drug use, sexual risk, and other problem behaviors among rural African American youth, has translated his findings into efficacious preventive interventions. He is the author of more than 300 publications, with his recent work examining gene-by-environment interactions in a randomized prevention trial.

The lecture, sponsored by the Psychology Department and the Neuroscience, Behavior, and Health Transdisciplinary Research Initiative, will be immediately followed by a reception in the Mildred Livak Room.
