Awards and Honors

Kathy Fox, associate professor of sociology, has received a Fulbright Senior Scholar award in New Zealand during her Spring 2013 sabbatical. She will be conducting qualitative research on the prisoner reentry programs, including a comparison with a similar program in the U.S. She will also be researching New Zealand’s restorative justice programs that includes victims and community members in the reparative process, an alternative to traditional justice.

David Huddle, English professor emeritus, will serve as Austin Peay State University’s 2012-13 Acuff Chair of Excellence. In 1985, country-music legend Roy Acuff generously endowed the chair, which brings nationally acclaimed artists to APSU’s campus each year to work with students and the community.

Publications and Presentations

Christopher Allen, emeritus professor of chemistry, has coauthored (with Maneesh Bahadur) the paper "Organophosphazenes. 26. Factors Controlling the Pathways Observed in the Reactions of Ethynyl Lithium Reagents with Hexafluorocyclotriphosphazene,” published in the journal Inorganic Chemistry. He also attended the twelfth symposium on inorganic ring systems in Victoria, Canada and is on the international organizing committee of this series of symposia. In his role as president of the Vermont Academy of Science and Engineering, he participated in the state-wide review of the Next Generation Science Standards for K-12 schools.
