Awards and Honors

The University of Vermont Medical Group at Fletcher Allen presented four recognition awards to UVM/Fletcher Allen clinicians at a special reception held in December 2011. Jeffrey Klein, A. Bradley Soule and John P. Tampas Green and Gold Professor of Radiology, was named the Continuing Medical Educator of the Year for his work as a teacher and administrator. Alan Rubin, associate professor of medicine, was named Graduate Medical Education Teacher of the Year in honor of his contributions as a teacher, mentor and role model for residents and medical students. David Krag, S.D. Ireland Professor of Surgery, was named Senior Researcher of The Year, an honor that recognizes a faculty member who is more than 10 years from residency or fellowship training. Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics Robert Althoff was named Junior Researcher of the Year, an award that recognizes a faculty member less than 10 years out from residency or fellowship training.

The file transfer service Globus Online has selected James Vincent, director of the Bioinformatics Core at the Vermont Genetics Network at the University of Vermont, as its December 2011 “User of the Month.” “James has transferred more than 5TBs of data in less than one month. He has transferred data between several TereGrid/XSEDE resources,” note Globus Online’s Rajkumar Kettimuthu, “and also between his Vermont site and XSEDE resources.
