Biography:Dr. Robert J. Johnson is professor emeritus of orthopaedic surgery in UVM's Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation Department. He is a former president of American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. In 2000, he added to his many national and international awards by winning the George Rovere Education Award of the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine. His practice interests are sports medicine, knee injuries, skiing injuries, ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) sprains. His grants, totaling over $1.2 million in direct costs, have been awarded by organizations such as National Institutes of Health, Arthritis Foundation, and National Football League Charities. Among Dr. Robert J. Johnson's publications in professional journals are: "Update on Injury Trends in Alpine Skiing" (Vol. 13, American Society for Testing Materials, 2000, co-authors); "The Elongation Behavior of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament Graft in Vivo: A Long-Term Follow-Up Study" (American Journal of Sports Medicine, 2001, co-authors).
