| Biography: | Foote's primary area of expertise is finite group theory and the classification of the finite simple groups. He has worked on applications of finite group theory and representation theory to algebraic number theory: specifically, to Artin's conjecture to the holomorphy of L-series. He has recently worked with researchers in applied mathematics and electrical engineering on applications of group theory, representation theory, and other areas of modern algebra to digital signal processing, multiresolution analysis, and discrete wavelets. |
