| Biography: | Thaler, who served as chair of the Theatre Department for many years, received his M.F.A. in design from the Pennsylvania State University in 1983. His design credits have included work at the Champlain Shakespeare Festival, the Theatre-by-the-Sea in Matunuck, Rhode Island, Brandeis University, and the Dartmouth Summer Repertory. His work for the New York stage has included millinery and crafts
for the American premiere of the Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival's production of "The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickelby," "The Muppet Arena Show," and "Shogun, the Musical." While on his sabbatical in New York City he worked on the Chicago premiere of "Miss Saigon," the musical "My Favorite Year" at Lincoln Center, and the American
revival of "Hello Dolly!" opening in Paris. Among his favorite design credits are "Anne of Green Gables" for Stage One: the Louisville Children's Theatre, "Misalliance for Dartmouth," and "King Lear" for UVM.
