|Biography:||Marta Ceroni focuses on developing and using ecosystem service assessments to inform land use and conservation planning, policy making for sustainability, environmental compensations, and community development. Her background is in forest ecology but her present work is entirely interdisciplinary.
Ceroni has conducted studies for the United Nation's Development Program in two national parks in Romania to assess the ecological and economic benefits of conservation and potential for building a conservation economy around these benefits. She is a co-investigator in a federally funded project to develop a web-based expert system for spatial assessments of ecosystem services in management and policy decision-making. Her international work includes watershed management in Mexico, Brazil, and Madagascar and environmental data management in Thailand. |
