| Biography: | Matthias Brewer specializes in synthetic organic chemistry. His research currently focuses on the development of new chemical reactions for the preparation of complex molecules from simple starting materials. The methods he is developing will provide access to organic molecules that contain nitrogen or oxygen atoms within their structures. These types of molecules are often found in medicines. The synthetic methods Brewer is developing will ultimately provide biomedical researchers a simple way to prepare new biologically-active compounds for use in medicines and therapies. Brewer teaches undergraduate organic chemistry, undergraduate organic chemistry laboratory, and graduate level advanced organic chemistry. |
