| Specialty: | protein dynamics, enzyme mechanism |
| Biography: | Chu is interested in the functional and structural consequences of protein dynamics. Projects undertaken in his laboratory are aimed at using physics to achieve a quantitative understanding of biological molecules and enzyme mechanism. His current and recent research projects include the study of structural biology and kinetic crystallography; heme proteins (myoglobin, hemoglobin, cytochrome P450cam); energy transduction proteins (photosynthetic reaction centers from R. sphaeroides; and non-heme diiron proteins (ribonucleotide reductase from E.coli). He has published articles in several professional journals, including Nature Biochemistry and the Biophysics Journal. |
