| Biography: | Owen, a painter, teaches painting and drawing at UVM. His paintings investigate the continuing possibilities of abstraction. The recent work follows several tracks: vividly colored responses to the Venetian glass tradition; works that reference nature and the "luminist" heritage in American painting and coloristically severe paintings that combine paint imagery and photo based elements. His work is regularly exhibited at the Nancy Hoffman Gallery in New York City and can also be found in numberous museum and major corporate and private collections. |
