Biography:Mazzoni teaches courses in Italian language, literature, and culture. Her areas of research include late 19th and early 20th Century Italian literature; literature and spirituality; maternity and culture; and gender and cultural studies. Her publications include the books "Maternal Impressions: Pregnancy and Childbirth in Literature and Theory" (2002); "The Voices of Gemma Galgani: A Life and an Afterlife" (2003), "Angela of Foligno's Memorial," edited with introduction, notes, and Interpretive Essay (1999), and "Saint Hysteria: Neurosis, Mysticism, and Gender in European Culture" (1996). Mazzoni completed her doctorate in Comparative Literature at Yale University.
