Biography:Magistrale is winner of the UVM George V. Kidder Outstanding Faculty Award (2001) and the UVM Kroepsch-Maurice Award for Excellence in Teaching (1997). His books include: "Hollywood's Stephen King,""The Student Companion to Edgar Allan Poe" (Greenwood Publishing Group, 2001), and; "Poe's Children: Connections Between Tales of Horror and Detection" (Peter Lang Publishing, 1999, co-author). His book publications as author, co-author, editor, or co-editor total 15. His published articles or chapters in books (in some cases as a co-author) number 36 and range in subject from Stephen King, horror art in film and literature, Edgar Allan Poe, Flannery O'Connor, Jim Morrison of The Doors, technology and physical science writing, Wanda Coleman, Thoreau, Doestoevski, African-American writers, Joyce Carol Oates, etc. Magistrale is a member of the board of directors and a trustee of The Swedish Program.
