The Vermont Catamounts' run through the NCAA Hockey Tournament came to a close on Thursday night with a 5-4 loss to Hockey East rival Boston University, the nation's top-ranked team. After falling behind by two goals in the first period, the Catamounts fought back to take the lead in the second, netting three goals in a thrilling six-minute span. After BU tied the game with their own answer in the second, the third period opened 3-3. The Cats took the lead on freshman Drew MacKenzie's goal at 9:40 in the third, but the Terriers would close with two goals in the final seven minutes to advance to the Frozen Four title game.

"As a coach, seasons don't always end in championships, but I've got a lot of champions in that locker room," Vermont coach Kevin Sneddon said in his post-game comments.
