In conjunction with the recent tenth anniversary of the tobacco industry's Master Settlement Agreement, Vermont Public Radio (VPR) aired a series on smoking cessation titled "Vermont Quits: Vermont's efforts to kick the cigarette habit" from January 12 through 16. Hosted during "All Things Considered" by Neal Charnoff, the series featured comments from John Hughes, M.D., professor of psychiatry and psychology, regarding both his smoking cessation research and experience working with people trying to quit. Hughes was the focus of the Wednesday, January 14 segment.

VPR featured another UVM faculty member, Theodore Marcy, M.D., professor of medicine and pulmonologist, on January 14 on a "Vermont Edition" program on "Smoking in Vermont: A decade after the landmark tobacco settlement".
