Flu Shots Offered on Campus This Wednesday and Friday

For the convenience of UVM faculty, staff, retirees and certain dependents of the same, (see the age requirements below), the University will host two final flu shot clinics on campus. The clinics will be administered by Fletcher Allen Health Care and will take place at the times and places indicated below:

  • Wednesday, November 20 from noon to 6 PM in Davis Center, Sugar Maple
  • Friday, November 22 from 7 AM to 2 PM in Waterman Memorial Lounge

Important Details re: On-Campus Clinics

  • There is no cost for those who are covered on the UVM healthcare plan with BlueCross and BlueShield of Vermont (BCBSVT). You must present your BCBSVT card and a photo ID.
  • We will NOT schedule appointments this year. Flu shots will be delivered on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • There are two required forms. To save time, complete them in advance.
  • In keeping with Fletcher Allen guidelines, flu shots will be available to individuals who are 18-years old and older. If you wish to get a flu shot for minor dependents, read the information below under "Other Flu Shot Options."

Payment Arrangements

If you are NOT covered on the UVM healthcare plan with BCBSVT, you will need to pay $25 cash or check at the time of the flu shot. (Credit and debit cards will NOT be accepted.)

If you ARE covered on the UVM healthcare plan with BCBSVT, there is no cost to you for the flu shot. You must present your BCBSVT card and a photo ID.

Other Flu Shot Options

If you are covered on the UVM healthcare plan with BCBSVT and it is not convenient for you to receive a flu shot on campus, or if you wish to get flu shots for your covered dependents (including minor dependents), you can receive flu shots from your primary care provider or from a BCBSVT network pharmacy at no cost to you (subject to scheduling requirements and availability). Simply present your BCBSVT card and a photo ID—you do not need to fill out the Fletcher Allen paperwork mentioned above.

Those who choose to receive a flu shot at a BCBSVT network pharmacy might find it easiest to go to the pharmacy that regulary fills their prescriptions, since they already have all the pertinent information on record.

For more information on seasonal flu vaccines, see the resources on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website—especially the resources at the bottom of the page under "Patient Education."
