First visit as a Marsh Professor at Large

Steve Polasky, a close colleague from University of Minnesota, spent this past week at UVM - his first annual visit as a Marsh Professor at Large.

Steve visited with undergraduate and graduate courses, gave two campus-wide lectures, advised a variety of grad students and post-docs on their research.  He also worked with a small group of us on a week-long project to estimate the value of the Otter Creek wetlands in reducing flood damage in Middlebury during tropical storm Irene.

Beyond all that work stuff, we got steve out in the woods a lot, out sampling Vermont's food and beer, and even dressed up as a super-hero with my son Lincoln.

We're looking forward to Steve visiting regularly over the 5 years of his Marsh Professorship.
