Enterprise Technology Services wishes all students, faculty, and staff a successful and productive academic year.  There are several changes in information technology services we'd like to mention, and there are special service hours during move-in weekend.

Getting Help

Computer Depot Clinic: Located in the Computer Depot, 112 Davis Center, the "CDC" serves hundreds of students in a typical week (2,895 during the spring semester).  Demand has often led to long waits and frustration, so hours are being extended into the evening.  New hours for the fall semester are:

Monday - Thursday:  9 am - 6:30 pm

Friday:  9 am - 4 pm

Bailey-Howe Library Tech Tune-Up: In collaboration with UVM Libraries, ETS is establishing a new student Tech Tune-Up clinic on the first floor of Bailey-Howe Library.  Hours are:

Sundays 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm

More Help Online: Video podcasts are a welcome addition to the UVM computing web site.  Available topics range from getting on the wireless network to installing UVM software, and can be found at:

    http://www.uvm.edu/ets/help/

We're making more podcasts as time permits, so please give us your ideas for what more you'd like to see.

Computer Lab and Classrooms in 113 Waterman

System Login:  Windows, on either Dell or iMac workstations, uses a different authentication. Entering your NetID should work fine, but if it doesn't, make sure that 'uvm.edu' is selected at the login window. If you still have problems, check out the detailed instructions on the bulletin board. Passwords that haven't been changed in the past year may not work; passwords can be changed quickly at http://www.uvm.edu/account.

Lab and classroom hours during weeks when classes are in session are:

Monday - Thursday: 8 am to 7 pm

Friday: 8 am to 5 pm

The 113-T and 113-Q classrooms are available for students to work any time they're not in use for classes.  For the fall semester, there are over 44 hours in a typical week when one or both of the classrooms is free.   Schedules are online at this address:

    http://scripts.uvm.edu/cgi-bin/lab.pl

The trial in which the lab was open weekends last year saw very little student use, at considerable expense; funds had to be reallocated from other services.  This year, resources are being allocated to help meet the very high demand for direct student technology help, with longer hours in the Computer Depot Clinic and with the launch of a Sunday clinic in Bailey-Howe Library.

Students should find the expanded number of Macintosh systems in the Center for Multimedia Development (first floor of Bailey-Howe Library) suitable for work on weekends or other times when that location or schedule is more convenient.  Information about the Center for Multimedia Development is available by email to cmd.help@uvm.edu or at this link:
