In this course we will examine the important role that story telling has played in the history of Ireland from the bronze age mythology to the cultivation and actualization of a national state identity. Genres such as the ballad,plays and essays will be examined as a means for understanding the transition from explanation of natural phenomena to a vehicle for social change.
