This two-part course, held in two three-hour sessions in successive weeks will cover a topics, in chronological history in the field of Jewish Intellectual History. The first three hours will be divided into three sessions, starting with the scriptural heritage (Torah, Talmud, Jewish Presence in Classical Europe)and running through the late Middle Ages(Jewish thought in Christian and Muslim Europe as an extension of Jewish tradition and in the light of Aristotelian thought). The second three hours in the next week will cover the Jewish intellectual presence in Early Modern Europe, starting with the Renaissance and running thought and running through the Jewish divisions into traditional and liberal wings in the 19th Century. The last section will cover the 20th century through the present, with Marx, Einstein, Freud and Deconstructionism.
