The University of Vermont Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Yutaka Kono will present an evening of symphonic works featuring student soloists and U.S. premiere of Hiroshi Hoshina's Fu-Mon (Wind-Ripple) the original version for orchestra.
The program will open with Ludwig van Beethoven's well-known work, Overture to Fidelio. As the winner of the high school division of 2014 UVM Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, David Fischer will perform Elegy for Cello and Orchestra by Gabriel Faure. Bruce Barger, one of the winners of the college division, will sing a beautiful tenor aria "Flower Song" from the opera Carmen by Georges Bizet. The concert will bring you back to America with An Outdoor Overture by Aaron Copland. The composer of the final piece of the evening, Hiroshi Hoshina is one of the leading composers of Japan whose concert work Fu-Mon has received countless performances and recordings in that country.
