Vermont Wind Ensemble Concert

The Vermont Wind Ensemble presents "American Scenes", a concert exploring the rich musical heritage of North America. A series of snapshots of different times and places, the program includes Walter Piston's colorful musical portrait of the Tunbridge World's Fair, William Schuman's modern take on a revolutionary war tune, the flavor of the American Southwest in Clifton Williams' Symphonic Dance # 3: Fiesta, and the Olympic Fanfare and Theme of John Williams. Also included on the concert will be the premiere of an arrangement by Alan Parshley of music by Aaron Copland for the movie "Our Town". The soloist for this program will be Dale Long, the principal euphonium player in the Vermont Wind Ensemble; he will be playing "Vintage", by David Gillingham.
