Nelson Sewankambo, MBChB, MSc, M.MED, FRCP
Professor of Medicine and Provost Makerere University College of Health Sciences, Uganda and President, Uganda National Academy of Sciences Sullivan classroom, Medical Education Center 200 Dr. Sewankambo has devoted much of his professional life to the advancement of medical education, research and capacity development. As Dean of Makerere University Medical School he was responsible for moving from a teacher-centered, lecture-based medical curriculum to student-centered education grounded in problem-based learning and community service. He initiated a successful research capacity building consortium (THRiVE) involving seven African institutions and two universities in the UK, and he is providing leadership for an Africa wide initiative for Strengthening Research Capacity in Africa (ISHReCA). He was also recently elected to the Board of Directors for the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH).
