UVM Opera Workshop Performance
Time: 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Location: UVM Music Recital Hall
Description: The UVM Opera Workshop presents: The Telephone and A Hand of Bridge
Join us for an evening of comic 20th-century 1-act American operas and arias. Gian-Carlo Menotti's The Telephone, or "L'Amour a Trois" is famous for its hilarious protagonists' obsession with her phone and the desperation of her very neglected boyfriend. In Samuel Barber's amusingly perverse opera, A Hand of Bridge, the action literally takes place around a bridge table, where two dysfunctional couples reveal their inner thoughts to the audience as they play. Following these 2 short works, the Opera Workshop students will present arias from the wonderfully diverse American opera repertoire, including Barber's Vanessa, Menotti's The Consul and The Old Maid and the Thief and Moore's The Ballad of Baby Doe.
