Facility Design Guidelines
The UVM Physical Plant Department
provides these guidelines to assist consultants and contractors in
designing buildings or projects on campus. In
no way are these guidelines intended to supersede sound engineering
practices, take the place of
specifications, limit creativity, and/or be used as a legal document.
These are not contract
specifications, but rather guidelines to be used as a reference. These
guidelines have been created with four major criteria in mind: Quality
assurance; Uniformity; Ease in maintenance; and Compatibility with
existing components or systems.
The University of Vermont
recognizes that systems, concepts, practices and codes change as
technology
advances. If there is to be a deviation
from these standards based on cost, schedules or site conditions,
written
permission from the project manager is required prior to making the
change. The individual requesting a
deviation needs to present a well thought out argument showing why the
change
is necessary.
