Officers 2009-2010
Chancellor: Lisa Harris
lharris@uvm.edu
My name is Lisa Harris and I am part of UVM’s class of
2010. I am an environmental studies major with a social anthropology minor. I
am dedicated to all activities I participate in, am very organized, and like to
be creative in my thinking. I have been very involved on campus over the past
three years, working for organizations like Eco-Reps and UVM Hillel, and am also a
member of the sorority Alpha Delta Pi. Alpha Delta Pi has taught me leadership
and communication skills as well as given me the opportunity to do service work
for our national philanthropy, the Ronald McDonald House. As an environmental
studies major I have found my career interest to be in non-profit environmental
work. During the summer I intern for a non-profit ocean advocacy group called
Clean Ocean Action based off Sandy Hook, New Jersey where I am from. This type
of organization is what I am passionate about and I hope after I graduate to be
able to pursue a career in. By being the Chancellor I believe I will bring
interesting ideas, my passion for community work, and overall a big smile to
Alpha Zeta Fraternity.
Censor: Philip Cohen
Philip.Cohen@uvm.edu
I'm 20 years old and am currently a Junior at UVM (going to be a Senior). I am
an Animal Science major with a pre-vet concentration. I am a very hard worker
and am easy to work with. I am willing to donate as much time as possible to AZ
as needed and want to work with all the other AZ members to see what we can do
to offer more community service opportunities to our AZ members. I am very
organized and can help out with any other AZ positions that may need help.
Scribe: Marissa Ruppel
Marissa.Ruppel@uvm.edu
My name is Marissa Ruppel, and I am currently a sophomore majoring in
Animal Science with a concentration in pre-veterinary medicine. I have been very
involved on campus over my past two years here. I am an active member of Tri
Delta, where I take part in many community service activities including raising
money for our philanthropy, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. I am also in
the Honors College and a member of 2011 Class Council where we plan events to
unify members of our class. I am very interested in being the scribe for Alpha
Zeta, because I would love to become more involved with this organization as
well as CALS and the UVM community.
I am very dedicated to the organizations I am currently involved in. I am also
very organized and detail-oriented, driven and hard-working in anything I take
on. I will use these qualities in my position, and hopefully interact and get
to know all of the other Alpha Zeta members to become more active in our
community.
Treasurer: Jared Alvord
Jared.Alvord@uvm.edu
My name is Jared Alvord and I am an incoming senoir
Environmental Studies student in the college of Agriculture and Life
Sciences. I also have minors in Green Building and Design and Community
Entrepreneurship. I have been involved across the UVM campus and
community in a variety of ways. I am currently the captain of the men's
Track and Field team here at UVM as well as the President of the Student
Athlete Advisory Council. I was the president and am still highly
involved with the Campus Energy Group, focused on renewable energies on
campus as well as many campaigns surrounding these issues. I have also
found myself very involved throughout the community, including
volunteering for a year at the Essex Teen Center, an after school
program in Essex Junction. My future lies very open at this point, but
will end in the field of renewable energies and sustainability as it is
so important to the continued survival of our race.
Chronicler:
Derrek Eckhardt
Derrek.Eckhardt@uvm.edu10
My name is Derrek Eckhardt.
I am a Senior majoring in Sustainable Landscape Horticulture in Plant
and Soil Science.
Sergeant-At-Arms: Alec Stranahan
Alec.Stranahan@uvm.edu
I'm currently a second semester Junior majoring in Molecular Genetics
and minoring in Business Administration. I have a very good work ethic,
and I'm doing research in a lab within the department of Microbiology
and Molecular Genetics. My research for this summer is funded by a URECA!
grant and I hope to complete the Distinguished Undergraduate Research
through CALS by the time I graduate. I have good time management skills
and I'm well organized. I never fall behind in my studies, and would not
fall behind in my tasks as Censor. Since I just joined Alpha Zeta I know
I'm not as well versed in the workings of the Fraternity as others may
be, however I'm enthusiastic in participating actively. I will work my hardest to uphold the standards of our chapter
and make it an enjoyable experience for our other members.
