Officers 2008-2009
Chancellor: Lisa Harris
(Fall '08 - Censor)
lharris@uvm.edu
My name is Lisa Harris and I am part of UVM’s class of
2010. I am an environmental studies major with a social anthropology minor. For
the Fall 2008-Spring 2009 academic year I am very interested in being the Censor
for Alpha Zeta. I believe I would be a good candidate for the position because I
am dedicated to all activities I participate in, am very organized, and like to
be creative in my thinking. I have been very involved on campus over the past
two years, working for organizations like Eco-Reps and UVM Hillel, and am also a
member of the sorority Alpha Delta Pi. Alpha Delta Pi has taught me leadership
and communication skills as well as given me the opportunity to do service work
for our national philanthropy, the Ronald McDonald House. As an environmental
studies major I have found my career interest to be in non-profit environmental
work. During the summer I intern for a non-profit ocean advocacy group called
Clean Ocean Action based off Sandy Hook, New Jersey where I am from. This type
of organization is what I am passionate about and I hope after I graduate to be
able to pursue a career in. By being the Censor I believe I will bring
interesting ideas, my passion for community work, and overall a big smile to
Alpha Zeta Fraternity.
Censor: Vanessa Patten (Fall '08 - Treasurer)
vpatten@uvm.edu
My name is Vanessa Patten. I am from Mont Vernon, a small town in
southern New Hampshire. I am currently a sophomore animal science
student with a pre-veterinary concentration. I hope to attend veterinary
school upon graduation and someday practice as a small animal
veterinarian. My interests include running track and cross country for
UVM, working as a part-time veterinary technician, hiking and being
outdoors. I would love to hold the office of Scribe for Alpha Zeta
because I hope to become more active in the campus community. I have
held similar positions such as secretary of the National Honor Society
chapter and choir at my high school. I am interested in assisting
with events in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and in the
off-campus community. I consider myself to be outgoing, organized and
motivated and will bring all of these qualities to this position!
Scribe: Marlow Duffy
Marlow.Duffy@uvm.edu
My name is Marlow Duffy and I am currently a junior here at UVM majoring in
Community and International Development with a double major in Dietetics.
I am a member of the Equestrian Team and the Honors College. I also
participate on CALS REPS, and play intramural broomball. My ultimate career goal is to help
fight obesity in the United States, and foster sustainable community practices
among residents of wherever I end up living and working. Most importantly, I
wish to enjoy the path I end up traveling along, and live each day to the
fullest! I would love to be an active member of Alpha Zeta and hold the office
of Scribe. I am very organized, pay attention to detail, love interacting with
people, and wish to be a liaison between Alpha Zeta members and officers. Being
a scribe is not merely attending office meetings and hanging up flyers for
events, but entails interacting with each and every member of Alpha Zeta,
listening to their concerns and suggestions, and making positive differences
that will enhance everyone's experience in Alpha Zeta.
Treasurer: Jared Alvord (spring '09)
Jared.Alvord@uvm.edu
Chronicler: Derrek Eckhardt
Derrek.Eckhardt@uvm.edu
My name is Derrek Eckhardt. I am a
Junior majoring in Sustainable Landscape Horticulture in Plant and Soil Science.
Chancellor: Dana Notte
(Fall '08)
Dana.Notte@uvm.edu
I am currently a
senior from Rutland, VT majoring in Dietetics and Nutrition and Food
Science. I will graduate in December of 2008 and begin graduate school
at the University of Vermont in the fall of 2009 to complete my dietetic
internship and masters degree. When my education is complete I want to
venture into the community and work for a non-profit organization that
promotes nutrition education and awareness. I have interned with Vermont
Department of Health WIC Program, the Campaign to End Childhood Hunger
Cooking for Life program, and conduct my own undergraduate research. All
of these experiences have furthered my interest in the subject and made
me even more aware of the nutritional issues our country faces. I am
very passionate about what I am studying and very interested in working
to improve the nutritional status of our society.
Officer
Position: I am interested in re-running for the position of Censor. I am honest,
organized, reliable, and most importantly hardworking. I think that I have
demonstrated this well over the past year as Alpha Zeta Censor and I would like
to continue to work hard for this group, our school, and our community. I think
that our group can do a lot of great things to benefit the community and I would
love to be involved in the organization and execution of those events. I would
appreciate your vote for the position of Censor and should I be re-elected I
promise to continue representing the group and our school to the best of my
ability.
