Since 1991, the University of Vermont Alternative Spring Break (UVM ASB) program has offered students opportunities to do service projects all across the country. We send groups on week-long, substance-free volunteer trips during the week of spring break. Through working on a variety of different social issues alongside communities coast to coast, our program has allowed for personal growth among participants, experience with volunteer work, training in social justice, increased awareness about particular issues, and networking between our university and many communities across the nation. Our trips engage issues such as environmental stewardship, poverty, gender equality, education, disabilities, health, and disaster relief.
