2020 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Keynote Event, Featuring Dr. Ibram X. Kendi
The Office of the Vice President for Human Resources, Diversity and Multicultural Affairs is excited to announce UVM’s annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration, Education and Learning Series to be held January 2020. This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Ibram X. Kendi, a New York Times bestselling author, Founding Director of The Antiracist Research & Policy Center at American University, and frequent ideas columnist at The Atlantic. Please save the date and join the UVM community for his keynote presentation to be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. in Ira Allen Chapel.
Tickets are FREE and REQUIRED. Ticket availability is limited so please note the following ticket release dates for UVM community members and the general public:
- Starting Tuesday, January 21 at 8:00 a.m., tickets available to the UVM community
- Starting Friday, January 24 at 8:00 a.m., tickets available to the general public
Tickets will be available online at tickets.uvm.edu or in person at the Dudley H. Davis Center, Miller Information Desk (3rd floor) during regular business hours.
Other events to celebrate the legacy of Rev. Dr. King include Damien Sneed's We Shall Overcome at the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, January 22 at 7:30 p.m. Special $10 tickets are available to UVM students, faculty and staff at the Flynn Tix Regional Box Office at 153 Main St., Burlington, VT (UVM ID required). This offer is limited to one discounted ticket per UVM student and two discounted tickets per faculty/staff member. A MLK Commemorative Concert featuring the New Alpha Gospel Choir on Thursday, January 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Ira Allen Chapel. More events will be announced soon.
The keynote presentation is sponsored by President Suresh V. Garimella, the Department of Student Life, and the Office of the Vice President for Human Resources, Diversity and Multicultural Affairs.
