Undergraduate Writing Center
Opens on September 4th
- By Undergraduate Writing Center
UVM’s Undergraduate Writing Center (UWC) reopens on Tuesday, September 4th to provide support to undergraduate students at any stage of the writing process—from understanding an assignment and brainstorming ideas, to drafting and organizing, to polishing and final edits. We have over fifty trained peer tutors—experienced writers from a variety of disciplines—available from Sunday through Friday with morning, afternoon, and evening appointments. Services are free to UVM undergraduates, thanks to the support of UVM’s Provost office.
What students say about coming to the UWC: "I like how kind and relaxing the writing center is while also being incredibly efficient." "I was able to come in with no idea of what I was going to write and the tutor helped me through the whole process." "…useful editing advice without sacrificing my specific style." "My tutor was easy to talk to, not intimidating, and helped me feel more confident about my essay."
Students can make appointments a week in advance through the Undergraduate Writing Center website or drop by the center’s welcoming new space, on the ground floor of Bailey Howe library, to see if a tutor is available for a walk-in session.
