TRIO Programs @ UVM

Welcome to the University of Vermont
TRiO/ Student Support Services (SSS)program.

Authorized by Congress in 1968, the TRiO/ SSS program provides opportunities for academic development, assists students with basic college requirements, and serves to motivate students to successfully complete their postsecondary education. SSS programs serve  first-generation, limited-income students who may or may not have a disability. The program began at UVM in 1976 and is a part of a national group of programs referred to as TRiO .

The TRiO / SSS program is funded 100% through a competitive grant process to serve 225 UVM students. This year UVM received $310,977 to support the program.
