The Vermont Agency of Transportation has released a Request for Proposals through the UVM Transportation Research Center for “projects to answer a question or solve a problem, to increase knowledge, or to adopt a new technology.” They are seeking research proposals in the range of $20,000 to $100,000. They will be awarding up to a total of $500,000. These projects do not require any match.
Teaming with appropriate Agency personnel to identify research needs of value to both parties will be invaluable in the approval process. If you are interested in identifying appropriate agency personnel to partner with please contact Karen Glitman prior to September 17th.
If selected by the Vermont Research Advisory Committee (RAC) these projects will be funded under the UVM/VTrans Advancement of Research Grants Cooperative Agreement CA-0228. Funding from these projects will be counted as cost share to the UVM TRC US DOT Award 20002.
Budgets must be routed and approved by OSP and include the Program Code 0495 on the Routing Form. Under Comments please include the following: "This external award provides cost share to the TRC US DOT Award 20002." The indirect allocation should be 50% to the TRC.
VTrans is targeting projects to operate on the federal fiscal year (October 1, 2010 – September 30, 2011). However projects longer than 12 months in duration will also be accepted.
Attached is a blank solicitation form that is required for all research proposals. While there is no maximum page length for the project description, a maximum two page proposal would be better received.
All proposals, including approved OSP budget and PI two page resume in a single PDF file, are due to the TRC attn.: Karen Glitman by Friday, September 24th.
