Chen Zhang, Ph.D., joined the University of Vermont Transportation Research Center as a research analyst in October 2008. Dr. Zhang earned her Ph.D in transportation engineering and Master’s in statistics from the University of Connecticut. Her dissertation included an innovative advance in how travel exposure is quantified for traffic safety. Dr. Zhang has also worked in transportation consulting.
Dr. Zhang's research interests include statistical modeling in transportation and traffic safety. At the TRC she contributes to transdisciplinary teams who are studying travel choices, vehicle tailpipe emissions, non-motorized travel and time use data. Dr. Zhang is presently working with the Vermont Highway Safety Plan team as well as utilizing crash data from several states.
