This funding program offers up to $1000 of travel expenses for UVM faculty to travel to the Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board in Washington D.C. January 10-14, 2010. Participants must not currently be a PI on an on-going TRC funded project (these faculty can charge conference travel to their grants). Participants must provide an equal amount of travel funding from a non-federal source to make the 1:1 match requirements of the USDOT UTC grant at the TRC. In-kind matches or use of faculty academic year time as cost share is not allowable in this case.
Applicants must submit a letter of interest in developing a transportation-related program of research to Dr. Richard Watts, TRC Research Director, by November 29, 2009. The one-page letter should outline what the participant would gain from attendance at the TRB annual meeting conference. The source of matching funds should be indicated. A 2-page resume should be attached. Letters and resume may be submitted by email in a single pdf file. The first 8 applicants who meet the criteria will be funded.
The Transportation Research Board (TRB) is one of six major divisions of the National Research Council—a private, nonprofit institution that is the principal operating agency of the National Academies in providing services to the government, the public, and the scientific and engineering communities. The annual meeting of the TRB attracts approximately 10,000 professionals for a diverse program that includes a full range of transportation topics.
