STUDENT PARKING

Break Parking Information (Student)

During breaks in the routine schedule (particularly semester breaks and administrative holidays), there may be changes in parking options. This page contains "break parking" information for students.

Important Reminders

  • Parking Rules & Regulations Remain in Effect: All vehicles must continue to display a valid parking permit during the semester break period and reading & exam periods. Read carefully as enforcement will occur during these times. Normal parking regulations go into effect the first day classes resume following the break.
  • November 15 to April 1: No parking on the upper deck of the Gutterson Garage from 11:00pm to 7:00am. Violators may be towed at their own expense.
  • Overnight Parking: Commuter Permit holders are not allowed overnight parking without valid authorization and paying additional fees. If you hold a Residential Permit and are leaving your vehicle while you are away at any time during spring recess, it must display a valid residential permit and be parked within the enclosed sections of the Gutterson Garage. Do not park in any uncovered surface parking of the facility. This will allow for snow removal in the surface parking areas surrounding the garage, your normally assigned parking areas and allow us to coordinate special event parking during the breaks.
  • It's Still Snowing & There Are Special Events: Please watch for signs indicating dates and time of possible lot closures. In the event your desired lot is posted as closed, please refer to the paragraph above and follow the instructions for parking in the enclosed sections of the Gutterson Garage.
  • Please call Police Services at 656-3473 for the Motorist Assistance Program during Administrative Holidays and Winter Break Days.

Residential Permit Holders

FALL SEMESTER PERMITS EXPIRE 12/15/2018!! Should you have purchased a permit for the fall 2018 semester only it will expire soon!! If you are either storing your vehicle on campus or parking for any length of time during the semester break, you must purchase a valid permit before your permit expires on December 15, 2018 and affix it to your vehicle to avoid parking tickets. Remember, the deadline to purchase a spring semester permit is the last day of classes, December 14, 2018. If you have not exchanged your permit and purchased spring semester by the deadline, there is no guarantee you will be accommodated. The available permits, if any, will be first come, first served.

  • If you are leaving your vehicle while you are away during semester break, it must display a valid residential permit and be parked in the enclosed sections of the Gutterson Garage. REMEMBER: A Fall Semester permit is not valid at any time during the Break period and you will be in violation.
  • If staying on campus you are during break, all residential permits will also be valid in lots posted for Residential Permits regardless of permit color, as well as their traditional areas. Parking in faculty/staff lots is allowed after 3:30pm, with a valid permit. Please watch for signs indicating lot closures for snow removal and other campus events.
  • Parking in Gutterson Garage will allow snow removal crews to easily maintain the residential lots. Any vehicles left in the residential lots may be towed at the owner's expense. Please park in the enclosed sections of the lower and middle levels of the garage facility. Do not park in any uncovered surface parking of the facility. This will allow for snow removal in the surface parking areas surrounding the garage and allow us to coordinate special event parking during the breaks.

Commuters/Commuter Permit Holders

Campus parking rules and regulations will remain in effect during this time. Valid permits must be displayed and vehicles must park only in the zone which corresponds with their permit.

  • Commuter Evening Permits will be valid during their normally restricted hours (9:00a to 1:00p) in authorized areas of the Gutterson parking facility during the reading and exam period.

Your Commuter parking permit is valid on campus as long as the vehicle is not being stored. Aside from your normally assigned parking areas, all commuter permits will also be valid in lots posted for Residential Permits regardless of permit color. Parking in faculty/staff lots is allowed after 3:30pm with a valid permit.

Long-Term Storage Of Your Vehicle During Semester Breaks:

  • Storing your vehicle requires permission along with a special permit, both authorized and approved by Parking Services to avoid violation. You must request permission by contacting parking@uvm.edu. PLEASE UNDERSTAND YOUR COMMUTER PERMIT ALONE DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO STORE YOUR VEHICLE ON CAMPUS AT ANY TIME! Requests will be handled on a case by case basis and only as space allows. Please note the University assumes no responsibility for damage to, theft from, or theft of any vehicle parked on University property.

Commuter Yellow Permits: Beaumont Lot remains accessible for students with Yellow Commuter permits only during this time period.
