Synopsis:
Shakespeare makes full use of disguise and mistaken identity in this extraordinary comedy of sexual politics and intrigue. The titan forces of religion and government collide when the Duke of Vienna hands over the reins of power to his overly devout and vindictive deputy, Angelo. Plenty of surprising plot twists, plus some riotous clownish antics by a band of classic buffoon, make this one Shakespeare’s most dynamic and relevant works.
