Good Agriculture Practices (GAPs) and On-Farm Food Safety for Produce Growers
The Center for Sustainable Agriculture is helping Vermont produce growers address recent market concerns about food safety for fresh whole produce. The Center's Produce Safety and GAPs program provides education and technical support, conducts research, and coordinates communication among stakeholders on Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) and food safety for Vermont produce growers.
If you are considering becoming GAPs Certified, or just want to improve your food safety practices, our Outreach Coordinator can help you assess your farm's food safety needs, develop a food safety plan, and prepare for a GAPs audit if you decide to pursue that certification.
The information on these pages will help you determine whether your farm should be certified in Good Agricultural Practices or develop a food safety plan for your farm, and provide you with links to other resources on on-farm food safety for produce growers.
