Jump Start

UVM Jump Start for new First-Year Students

01Jump Start is a unique and dynamic program that provides UVM incoming first-year students with the opportunity to experience UVM’s curriculum, work closely with members of our faculty, and engage in a vibrant community of motivated peers. Participating students can commute or live on campus in UVM residential housing, take a credit-bearing course, and participate in workshops and activities designed to help them transition into the university.

First-year students can get a jump start on classes, build a network of friends, learn about UVM support services, and get to know the campus – all before the fall semester begins! Take advantage of this valuable opportunity to earn college credit at 50% off regular academic year tuition!

Jump Start is perfect for a new UVM student who is interested in:

  • A small and structured environment to help ease the transition from high school to UVM.
  • Adjusting to the University while living and studying with a cohort of other first-year students in a smaller, more relaxed setting.
  • Receiving guidance from UVM faculty and staff.
  • Exploring and taking advantage of educational, cultural, and social opportunities available on campus and in the Burlington community.
  • Earning credits during the summer, which put students a step ahead for their first year.
