11-noon: Class – Course themes and schedule
Noon-1 pm: Lunch
2-5 pm: Field Trip to National Museum of Ireland, Kildare Street
The National Museum of Ireland focuses on archaeology, Irish art, culture and natural history. The museum’s permanent exhibitions include the finest collection of prehistoric gold artefacts in western Europe, outstanding examples of metalwork from the Celtic Iron Age and the Museum’s world-renowned collection of medieval ecclesiastical objects and jewelry.
6-7 pm: Evening Meal
7-8 pm: Free time
8-9 pm: Céilí – Traditional Irish Music and Dance at Ceoltas, Monkstown.

Céilí dances are a popular form of folk dancing in Ireland that became popular during the Gaelic revival in the early 20th century.

9 am: Introduction and outline of the day
10 am-noon: Lectures: Tudor-Stuarts, 17th-century Dublin
1-2 pm: Lunch
2-5 pm: Field Trip to St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Christ Church Cathedral
Explore the capital city’s two medieval cathedrals. Built in honor of Ireland’s patron saint, the present building of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral dates back to 1220. Christ Church Cathedral welcomes thousands of visitors each year and was founded in 1030. Both are popular tourist attractions in Ireland.

7-11: Movie

7-11: Enjoy a performance of Riverdance, a popular, theatrical show featuring traditional Irish step dancing.  Riverdance is the internationally-acclaimed celebration of Irish music, song and dance that has touched the hearts of millions around the world for nearly two decades.
