Section Description

Examine the role of composting in waste management, soil health, climate change, and regenerative food systems. Gain a firm understanding of the ecological, physical and chemical principles of composting, and develop skill sets in site identification and design, feedstock analysis, recipe development, pile monitoring, management and process control, and facility management. Prerequisite: Three credits in basic biological or ecological science or Instructor permission.

Section Expectation

Attendance to all classes and field trips, participation in class, completion of all assignments and final project.

Evaluation

Attendance and participation, assignments, final project and presentation. Written evaluations will be given out.
