In this workshop for experienced writers, students pursue projects of their own design, in various creative nonfiction sub-genres, including personal essay, literary memoir, and/or literary journalism. Prerequisites: ENGS 050, ENGS 051, or ENGS 053; Sophomore standing.

Advanced course in the writing of various kinds of personal narratives, including travel, cultural criticism, and memoir.
Students will read and study models of contemporary nonfiction prose, write several short exercises, and finally produce and workshop two complete essays for a final portfolio.
Grade based on participation and a final portfolio of revised writing.
