Section Description

Beginners explore playing the piano in a four-week musical odyssey. This course is an introduction to the piano for those who have previous musical experience, but have not played the piano. Course materials include both familiar and new musical selections, some ensemble playing, and discussion of basic concepts of music theory. Basic music reading skills are required for this course. Section Expectation

Classes will combine guided practice with discussions and explanations of new material. Regular practice outside of class is expected, and short quizzes will be periodically given in class to assess progress. The required textbook for this course is Alfred's "Adult All-In-One Course", Level 1, ISBN- 88284-818-6

Evaluation

Grading will be based on attendance, preparation of assigned materials in a timely manner, progress, and a positive working attitude.
