More Information

Section Description

We will study the method of how to use data in order to estimate economic relationships, and to test hypotheses about the economy. The key method is "least-squares" regression analysis. We will study how to correct for issues that commonly occur in the data, such as heteroskedasticity and serial correlation. We will also study limited dependent variables, panel data, and quasi-experiments.

Section Expectation

The course will require about 10-20 hours of time per week. There will be a textbook, and a required software package (Stata).

Evaluation

There will be several homeworks, a midterm exam and a final exam. Some of the homeworks will involve using the statistical software in order to apply the methods that we learn to actual data.
