About EDCI 200 OL9

Beginning with a review of the principles of second language acquisition, this course will focus on research-based teaching techniques that effectively develop communicative competence in English for language learners of all backgrounds at the K-12 level. Coursework will demonstrate best practices for developing language in the four domains, classroom instruction and assessment. Additionally, the impact of culture on the learner and practitioner and prioritizing learner outcomes will be key elements to developing a well-rounded instructor of ELLs. The program is intended for individuals who have little or no training in teaching ELLs.
